It essentially has the right balance between being enjoyable to hear, and comical (even if you're not watching the video along with it.)
It certainly isn't the best song ever in my opinion,though - it probably wouldn't be in my top 50 - but that's not to say it isn't great.

Internet culture will never be understood, though.

i was just singing Gangnam style in my head when i found this post...

Listened to Gangnam Style 11 times the first try. Catchy song.
Your songs ain't bad either.

@MysterMan948

lol the same

I don't really see your point about "supporting different music acts" seeing as this song is only successful in the west bacause of a youtube sentation and it's introduction into the mainstream charts, in this country anyway. My point is that an act that is entered in to the mainstream music charts is not "different", nor is one that has five and a half million hits just for the "teaser" video on youtube. It is in fact the very definition of similar. This guy's been signed to the same record label as Justin Beiber this month, so I'm not sure of your definition of "different". It's unfortunate that any time that any chart act is blatantly foreign they have to be from southern europe or the U.S to be taken seriously by the British music buying public. This song is, i'm sure, to plenty of people very enjoyable, but really the key to it's success is it's generic, of the moment, sound appealing to the dulled palett of youtube watching, danecfloor filling punters. The day that the west truly embraces foreign language music in to the charts is the day that a serious singer song writer from Asia can have as successful a career over here as they can over there, but for now we have to put up with this psuedo embracing of different cultures as long as it's hilarious, has bright flashing lights and a dance to go with it. Supporting "different" music shouldn't involve the mainstream charts at all.
